Ulysses 31 is a series that is based on the Greek story Odysseus and his journey home from the Trojan War. Ulysses is the latin name for the character.
It was a one series cartoon because he got home. Set in the 31st century hence then name. In the series he is forced to wander the stars as he killed the giant robot Cyclops in order to rescue children including his own son. His crew have been put to sleep whilst he finds his way home, aided only
by Sherka, the ships computer, his son, a robot and two Zortans. Almost certainly influenced by Star Wars, he had a light swords like the lightsabers of old and a shield to make it slightly different.
His ship's name is Odyssey. The Greek story Odyssey begins at the end of the Trojan War with the destruction of Troy with the Trojan Horse.
The gods in this are the same as the original, e.g. Zeus, Poseidon, etc. Although strictly not a Greek character, the Sphinx (Body of a Lion, Head of a Human) appears in the storyline.
Ulysses must travel until he finds the King of Hades and only then can he return to Earth. The actors listed are the French original sound actors and the english translation actors. It had a memorable theme tune....
