Started off as a Marvel comic in the eighties then became television series. It stayed in the background for many years before being resurrected like so many other comics and
became a live action television 2007 film. Some of the characters in the list may or may not be in the film, their names have been taken from a range of sources.
The story tells of two groups of robots, the Autobots and Decepticons warring on the planet Cybertron. Their fight spreads from their home planet to Earth. In the cartoon
series, the Transformers arrive thousands of years ago and are woken up by Earth movement.
In the film, only Megatron is frozen in animation. Now on Earth, the robot commence battle
once more.
There were a number of cross-over stories between Transformers and Action Force (G.I. Joe) which to some purists, it was annoying.
