| John Crichton is an astronaut with the International Aeronautical Space Administration ( IASA ). He theorizes about advanced speed travel and when he gets the opportunity to prove it, he ends up falling into a wormhole. His spaceship is named 'Farscape One', hence the name of the series. On the other side of the wormhole, he discovers a new universe that is populated by a host of aliens. He arrives in this new part of the Universe during a battle between a group of traders and the Peacekeepers. The traders believe t
hat Johns ship is of use to them and bring him aboard their ship, the Moya, a "living" ship. After an initial greeting and implanting of an "Universal Language Translater", he is thrown into a prison, here he meets Aeryn Sun, an appearently human female who is a Peacekeeper. Peacekeepers are a race of aliens known as Sebeceans who have the same human attrivutes to humans except that they are less adaptable to cold weather like us They don't exactly hit it off, as she attacks him straighaway, thinking him to be a deserter. After a while, she calms down and just after dinner, they escape together from their captives . They rendezvous with the Peacekeepers who had been attacking the ship. Bialar, the commander of the Peacekeepers holds John responsible for the death of his brother and wants him dead. He turns against Aeryn who he accuses of being turned. As a result she escapes with him and joins the crw of the Moya. The series follows the crew as they survive and avoid the Peacekeepers. In later series, Bialar is replaced by Scorpius. The episodes follow on one after the other unlike Star Trek's standalone series'. What I have managed to find out about the mini-series is detailed in my Episodes section. It will be released in America in October followed by the rest of the world. Whether the BBC or the Sci-Fi channel broadcasts it in the UK has not been determind yet. |
