Whereas all the other Star Trek series are based around a spaceship, the premise is different for this, the third incarnation of the format. The action is based on a space station that orbits a planet called Bajor. In the early series, the action was based purely in and around the space station but then they added the U.S.S. Defiant. This allowed the stories to go further a field and into the Gamma Quadrant. In the Gamma Quadrant is the Dominion, a new enemy to fight against. There are no films based on the Space Station but it should come as no surprise if there are or if they make an appearance in the Enterprise series of films. Near the end of the DS9 series, the Galaxy becomes embroiled in a war between the Gamma and Alpha Quadrants.

I liked this show too! I like Dax and Jake Sisko, as characters and dr. Bashir too. Nana Visitor did a great job with Kira Nerys. It's nice to see Worf promoted to ambassador! Pitty they started the war with the Klingons again! For some Cardassians! Interesting part Quark though. Bigot, but not that mean somehow.

Good job on leaving out Bajor.
